Week 2 Day 6 - 5 Tips To Lose Bodyfat

11/04/15 Day 13 – Rest Day 1

Hey guys & girls, today I am going to take you through 5 simple tips that you could make to help you trim that waistline down!

1- Exercise More

This is a pretty standard one, but if you are only training once or twice a week, why not add another session, pick up a few extra gym based classes or even book a Personal Training session to attend every week. It isn't going to do you any harm, but that extra work will help form the calorie deficit you need to start shedding that body weight.

2- Lift More Weights

Try swapping out your cardio work and replace it with some weightlifting. Lifting weights creates more stress for your muscles to work against, it raises the heart rate more effectively than cardio, and will keep you bodies metabolic rate (the rate at which you burn fat at rest) elevated. Try out some new weighted functional training exercises, they will torch off that fat and give you all the benefits of your cardio workout in ½ the time!

3- Eat More Protein

Protein is your best friend, you might not know it, but protein is one of the more molecularly dense foods. Being so dense that the body actually has to work harder to break it down, this in itself will help you to burn fat, your bodies internal temperature will raise as a result of the break down, making it easier to metabolise fat. But most importantly, protein fills the body up quicker than any other food group, which means you don't have to eat quite as much, cutting that food bill and your waist size.

4- Quit Sugar

Nothing will put poundage on like sugar does, that extra spoonful in your tea, or that chocolate bar at lunch is doing nothing for you. Likelihood is you probably crave it, and that means you are addicted to it, which means trying to ditch it will be a real struggle. It takes roughly 21 days to break a cycle, and the longer you go without it the less you will want it. I've been there, I've done it, its hard, but the difference it makes is unimaginable

5- Make it a Lifestyle

When looking at getting in shape people will go on all kinds of crazy diets, they will shed off tones of weight and feel amazing, in most cases. Then the diet will end, they will try to go back to what they used to eat before, but slightly smaller portions or, less of this and more of that, and put all the weight they lost back on. Life isn't a diet. If you want to make a difference to your figure, and keep that weight off, do the little things you can sustain for as long as possible. Cutting down having 3 takeaways a week to once a week, replacing that Coke at lunch with a bottle of water. Do the little things that count.

  1. Having trained cardio and what now is apparently light weights, I must confess to a Matt epiphany! Cardio is great from weights! It really is.........I did weights 48 hrs ago and every meal feels like stoking the fire in "The Railway Children". It just keeps giving! You will hate your Personal Trainer, but boy does it burn calories. Weights all the way baby............
